Dentistry for Children at 3020 Dental

Dr. Sachin Verma, our General Dentist and the staff are committed to providing kind and compassionate dentistry for children. We will make your child’s visit gentle and develop positive feelings towards dentistry that will carry them into adulthood.  Dr. Verma understands how to communicate with children in a way that will make sense to them and will help them want to become more involved in their own dental care.

What kind of dentistry for children do you offer at 3020 Dental?

STATE REQUIRED DENTAL SCHOOL EXAMS

PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY

Protecting your child’s teeth for life with the development of good oral hygiene habits at an early age, dental exams and cleanings, fluoride treatment and dental sealants.

COMPOSITE FILLINGS (tooth colored)

Even if your child has a cavity on a baby tooth, it is important to have the filling done right away. Our dentists can help!

EXTRACTION

The extraction or removal of a tooth is sometimes needed. The reason for extraction may include extensive cavity in the tooth/teeth, front teeth crowding or generalized crowding with tooth removal requested by an orthodontist. Dr. Verma does his best to make each child comfortable during the procedure with appropriate anesthetic use.

PULP THERAPY

Pulp therapy (pulpotomy or pulpectomy) is needed when the nerve of a primary (baby) tooth becomes infected by decay or infection. In order to save the tooth, the pulp (the living tissue inside the tooth), nerves, bacteria and any decay are removed and the resulting space is filled with special, medicated dental materials, which restores the tooth to its full function.
Pulp therapy is highly successful and usually lasts the lifetime of the baby tooth, although on occasion, a tooth will have to be extracted due to new or recurrent infections.

STAINLESS STEEL CROWNS

Stainless steel crowns (SSC’s) are silver-toned full coverage restorations which are highly effective in sealing and protecting teeth from further bacterial invasion. SSC’s may be recommended by Dr Verma for teeth that have large cavities, have had pulp therapy or which are severely hypoplastic (very weak enamel). These SSC’s cover the entire tooth surface to keep the tooth structure that remains (after cavity removal) from fracturing or getting another cavity.

SPACE MAINTAINERS

Following an extraction or early loss of a primary (baby) tooth, space maintenance is required. Without the former tooth in place, the teeth behind will start to move into the open space. An appliance may be suggested to prevent loss of space which will provide the best chance for the permanent teeth replacement to erupt into its designated place within the arch.

SEDATION DENTISTRY & ANESTHESIA

Anxious child? Choose sedation dentistry. If your child feels stressed or unsafe visiting the dentist, our “pediatric sedation dentistry”, which is designed specifically for children can help to reduce any fear or pain during a child’s procedure.

SILVER DIAMINE FLUORIDE

Non-invasive treatment to stop tooth decay. Stop cavities before they form with a silver diamine fluoride treatment for your child with our dentists.
